El Puig D’estelles, Turin, Italy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Along one of the many roads in Turin, sits the eye catching patio of El Puig D’estelles. With its extra large sun umbrellas, bright red flowers lining the windows, and individual planters on each table, it really stuck out from all of the other patios on the street. Now that I think of it, I don’t believe I even stepped foot inside the restaurant! It was such a lovely sunny day and I was trying to absorb as much Italian sun as I could!

For an appetizer, we shared a basket of bread (complete with olive oil and balsamic vinegar….of course) and a nice and light caprese salad. Let me tell you, the tomato in the caprese salad… wow! It tasted like it was hand picked by Italian gods and then sliced by angels. It was crisp, sweet, juicy and absolutely phenomenal! The fresh mozzarella was perfect, as was the light dusting of oregano on top. We were thrilled with this caprese salad!

My partner and I both got carbonara for our main course, I chose the classic with bacon, he went for the spicy salami. When they were delivered he was a bit thrown by the massive mountain of parmigiana cheese on top of mine, while he only had a twig of rosemary (ha ha sucker). They brought over parmigiana for him, so that evened the playing field. Honestly, both of them were delicious but I did prefer the classic style more. Both were nice and dry the way it should be, and the colour from the egg yolk really shone through, I’ve never seen such yellow carbonara before! Was such a treat!!

The service was average, nothing special. That being said, when I’m sitting on sunny a patio in Italy with a glass of wine, and the server keeps the wine coming, then I am a happy girl. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, even though, as I said, I didn’t go inside and was in my happy place drinking wine on a patio. I don’t think you could go wrong here. 4/5 Stars.

Until next time,
