Located next to Bell Island Ferry in Portugal Cove, The Wild Horses Pub & Eatery is nothing fancy. The interior reminded me of a basement bar in someone’s house, aka tacky. Their menu consists of classic pub food, burgers, sandwiches, wings, fish and chips etc. Given their name, obviously this was no surprise. The lady who took care of us was straight to the point, as soon as she came to the table she took our drink and food orders.
I had the Hot Turkey Sandwich with Fries, and it was massive! I was hoping it would be homemade bread, but it was not even close to homemade. The gravy tasted like it came from a can, and there wasn’t enough to coat the dressing, which was really disappointing. The peas were stone cold and also from a can. The fries were great though, they were homemade and cooked to perfection.
My partner had the Club Sandwich with Onion Rings. The onion rings weren’t homemade, but they were still good. The sandwich had lots of flavour and was quite yummy, very fresh.
This post is quite short as there wasn’t much to our experience here, we came, we ate, and we left. I would dine here again however I wouldn’t order the Hot Turkey Sandwich. I’m going to give them 3/5 stars because my partners sandwich was good.
Until next time,
